Apple Will Give You $1 Million If You Can Hack an iPhone

Ios 11 Iphone Bugs

Apple, during Thursday's annual Black Hat security conference held in Las Vegas, stated that the company will make the process open to all the researchers.

Apple has announced a big expansion to its bug bounty program that will not only increase the initiative to cover all of Apple's operating systems - from the Mac to the Apple Watch - but has also upped the maximum payout for the program and announced plans to open it up to all security researchers who want to participate.

Apple is expanding its "buy bounty" programme to macOS, tvOS, watchOS and iCloud.

Apple is offering cybersecurity researchers up to US$ 1 million (around Rs 7 crores) to detect flaws in iPhones and Macs.

‘The Hunt’ Release Canceled By Universal Amid Mass Shootings and Trump Attack
President Trump chastised Hollywood on Friday and called out an upcoming movie that he said was meant to " inflame and cause chaos ".

Apple has revealed a list of payouts during the conference.

Apple first launched its bug bounty program, in 2016. Then, sometime next year, it'll give researchers devices with special tools to dive deeper into iOS. In June, researcher Patrick Wardle spotted a flaw that would make it possible for intruders to bypass security prompts in the company's macOS software, as Wired reported. There will also be a 50 per cent bonus if the vulnerability is discovered in a beta version of any software. These smartphones will come with advanced debugging capabilities and a root shell, among other modifications created to make the software more open and accessible for researchers. Apple devices are aimed at providing a flawless experience to their users. This means that anybody who finds a serious security bug can potentially earn a bounty by disclosing it to Apple, and there doesn't appear to even be any accreditation required. It's the first time Apple has ever offered special devices specifically for security research purposes in this way.

A user on Hacker News comments, "1M is a lot of money to me, a regular person, but when you consider that top security engineering talent could be making north of 500k in total compensation, 1M suddenly doesn't seem all that impressive. Considering the importance of a bug like this to Apple's business and the size of their cash hoard, this sounds like they don't actually care that much".
