Woman receives 'marijuana' birthday cake after request for 'Moana' theme is misunderstood

The employee said once Davis’ mother came to pick up the cake and explained it wasn’t what she ordered the store immediately apologized and offered to make a new cake

Either mom didn't speak clearly or the person taking the order didn't listen carefully, because what Davis got had nothing to do with "Moana".

A Georgia woman said a miscommunication while ordering her birthday cake led to dessert having a marijuana theme rather than the intended Moana theme.

"I think they thought that she said "marijuana" because we are from south Georgia and kind of have an accent".

Walker, a mother-of-two, told USA TODAY that she questioned the order, which her manager took down from the customer, but was told to make the cake.

The fast food restaurant served up a cake with a giant marijuana leaf design, green icing and a My Little Pony-style character with bloodshot eyes and a puff of smoke.

Davis posted on Facebook about the twist to her special day. The post has garnered more than 12,000 reactions and has been shared more than 13,000 times, mostly by people laughing at the mix-up.

Walker said she fired from Dairy Queen on Monday, which was her birthday.

$5 Billion US Fine Set For Facebook On Privacy Probe
But Facebook is still in business, and $5 billion won't even scratch the surface of the company's coffers. The fine would be a fraction of the billions of dollars Facebook makes from advertising every year.

She had worked at the Dairy Queen for about a year. The NBA senior writer talked to me about her process and how she goes about getting scoops. While she readily admits there was a mixup up with the order, she said an unnamed manager on duty also misheard the initial order.

"The lady who made my cake was apologetic and offered to make another one. The customer said it was fine, paid for the cake and left", one of the Dairy Queen owners Al Autry said to USA Today.

"This was a simple misunderstanding from the beginning", Autry said in a statement to USA Today.

The mistake was no big deal to Davis and her mother.

Davis did not respond to a Facebook message from USA Today seeking comment. "But the first one was so good we weren't anxious about it", Davis said.

'Just send me on leave, write me up, any of those things, I would have been OK with those things'.

While many social media users found the mix-up humorous, Walker said she doesn't share their sentiment. I would have accepted that.
