Wimbledon 2019: Novak Djokovic beats Roberto Bautista Agut to reach final

Little details will make difference in Roger Federer Nadal match- Roig

Second-seeded Roger Federer topped No. 3 Rafael Nadal, 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-3, 6-4, on Friday, in a matchup that wasn't short on drama.

Williams will face 27-year-old Simona Halep of Romania in Saturday's women's final.

Twitter was overawed by the level of play both the veterans produced on Friday and could not stop gushing over Federer's ability to push the limits at the All England Club. I don't mind that, I think it's more of a clear game plan. "He's the defending champion and he has shown why".

After watching Bautista Agut's shot hit the net tape, pop in the air and slide over for a victor that tied things at a set apiece, Centre Court spectators stood and cheered.

But he gathered his wits and his game in the third frame, showing off some spectacular footwork while Nadal choked on a flubbed volley for Federer's first break of the match.

After watching Bautista Agut's shot hit the net tape, pop in the air and slide over for a victor that tied things at a set apiece, Centre Court spectators stood and cheered, perhaps envisioning a tight match.

2015 Final: Djokovic 7-6 (7/1), 6-7 (10/12), 6-4, 6-3 - Djokovic claimed his third Wimbledon title, taking his Slam total to nine.

"But at the same time I created another opportunity to be in another final of a Grand Slam".

And when asked what proved the difference-maker in a tight tussle between two of the game's greats Federer was modest in response. Djokovic won 14 of the next 18 points while pulling out to a 3-0 lead - and he didn't need to produce much magic to do so.

Rarely has Federer, a man who holds 20 Grand Slam titles, reacted with such emotion after a mere semi-final win, but even the great Swiss Maestro was swept up in the moment. Federer has eight Wimbledon titles, Djokovic four.

"I had to dig deep", Djokovic said.

"At the end of the day, it comes very much down to who's better on the day, who's in a better mental place, who's got more energy left, " Federer said, "who's tougher when it really comes to the crunch".

Like two boxers sizing up their opponent, the pair tip-toed around in what was ultimately a cagey first set, with only one break point coming and going for Federer before it headed to a tie-break.

Appearing in his 12th final at the All England Club, and 16 years after his maiden Wimbledon title triumph, Federer believes there is little new that either he or Djokovic can do to prepare for Sunday's showdown. But for an erratic collapse in the second frame, he was in command throughout the match - including a first-set tiebreak - with Nadal straining in pursuit, racing around the court on unreliable knees.

Nadal led 3-2 in the tiebreaker before Federer won five straight points, clinching the set with a forehand victor. He double-faulted on his first set point but converted the second with a volley victor that clipped the net cord.

The Wimbledon semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Roberto Bautista Agut was briefly interrupted after a fan became ill on Centre Court.

The third set was nip and tuck early on but Djokovic broke for 4-2 and then, facing two break points, he won a 45-shot rally to extend his lead, going on to win the set.

Top seed and four-time victor Djokovic reached his sixth Wimbledon final, and 25th at the majors, with a nervy 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Spain's 23rd seed Roberto Bautista Agut.
