Trump Smacks 'Disrespectful' AOC For Her Latest Attack Against Pelosi

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez D-N.Y. listens as Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell testifies before the House Financial Services Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington Wednesday

Clay, a long-term member of the Congressional Black Caucus, argued Thursday that Ocasio-Cortez and her allies were speaking out, because "they didn't get their way" after a days-long clash between the old guard of the Democratic leadership and "the squad" emerged into public view. To fall back on that [trope] is a weak argument.

Sitting at the same witness table as their Democratic counterparts, four border state Republicans blamed the Democratic Party for the problem.

He added that Ocasio-Cortez and Omar, as well as Reps.

Pelosi and the so-called "squad" of freshman congresswomen have been engaged in a feud since the four took office in January. But they didn't have any following.

Just look at what AOC's Chief of Staff Saikat Chakrabarti said in a (now-deleted) tweet. "And wielding the power to shift it is how we actually achieve meaningful change in this country".

"When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm's distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood", Ocasio-Cortez told the Washington Post on Wednesday.

The previous day, however she said, "The persistent singling out ... it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful ... the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color".

Pelosi defended her scolding of Ocasio-Cortez and said she was doing her job as leader of the party by dressing down one of New York Democrat's staff for a tweet that essentially referred to some Democratic lawmakers as segregationists. That passed only after liberal and Hispanic Democrats voted "no", complaining that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., hadn't fought hard enough to add requirements for how detained migrants must be treated. What I said in the caucus yesterday had an overwhelming responses from my members, because they know what the facts are and what we're responding to, ' she said when asked again.

The US House of Representatives approved a $733 billion defense policy bill on Friday, defying President Donald Trump's veto threat by including provisions like a clampdown on funding for his planned wall on the border with Mexico. "Diversity is our strength, unity is our power".

Pelosi appeared to be trying to put the dispute behind her. "I don't think that Nancy can let that go on". Sylvia Garcia, D-Texas, and Ocasio-Cortez to prevent defense money and facilities from being used to house migrant children and undocumented immigrants.

Some of his colleagues also publicly came to the speaker's defense.

Rep. Lacy Clay (D-MO), a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, accused Ocasio-Cortez in an interview with the Hill of "using the race card" against Pelosi. "To me, with the freshman women, in general, it seems like she's been supportive", Kelly said. "And I've known her and worked with her for years". It also came days before Trump-ordered nationwide raids targeting people in the USA illegally are expected to begin, according to administration officials and immigrant activists, actions that would further inflame the issue. "This bill, it was a tough number for a lot of people, but what they were saying was: They wanted to have us unified".
