Celtics waiving Guerschon Yabusele: How do they fill out the main roster?

Boston Celtics 2019 NBA basketball draft player Carsen Edwards points out his family at a news conference to introduce the new team players Monday

The natural tendency when a team lets go of a disappointing first-round pick is to point at all the players they missed on that were drafted after him.

Yabu, as he is often called by his fans - of whom there are many despite his lack of aptitude in the National Basketball Association - will reportedly be waived by the Boston Celtics according to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

Former UCF star Tacko Fall wasn't selected at the 2019 NBA Draft, but the 7-6 center is making the most of his summer with the Celtics. They had taken forward Jaylen Brown with the No. 3 pick.

The Celtics have reportedly signed second-round pick Tremont Waters to a two-way contract, which means he wouldn't count against the 15-man roster. Otherwise, despite Yabusele's departure, it's going to be tough to make room for Fall when more experienced and skilled options are still available on the open market. None of those options would be almost as exciting as Fall, who has been impressive in Summer League action. They have often preferred to leave a spot open at the start of the season in order to maintain extra roster flexibility in case of injuries, but in this case they may look to bolster their thin frontcourt. So it is plausible, for example, that Waters could shine in the coming months and have his deal converted, potentially opening up a two-way slot for Fall. Of course not. It's just the more realistic avenue for Danny Ainge at this point.
