CBS All Access Releases Key Art For Picard Show

CBS All Access Star Trek Picard Key Art Released by Patrick Stewart

Picard revisits the iconic Star Trek: The Next Generation Captain in his elder years, starring Patrick Stewart reprising his role from that show. Check. Dog? Check. Picard showing off his money maker?

The poster, seen here, shows Jean-Luc Picard apparently in retirement alongside a new companion, a lovable French Bulldog.

IO9 notes that the emblem itself appears to be emblazoned with "No. 1", referencing Starfleet terminology for a ship's first officer as well as an ongoing tribute to Number One, a character who originally appeared in the original scratched "Star Trek" pilot. Hanelle Culpepper, who has worked on Star Trek: Discovery, will direct the first two episodes while Stewart's old TNG cast mate Jonathan Frakes will also call the shots during the first run.

STAR TREK: PICARD will air exclusively on CBS All Access in the United States and will be distributed concurrently internationally by CBS Studios International on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories and in Canada on Bell Media's cable networks, Space and Z, and OTT service Crave.

It's worth noting that Picard is rumored to be set in the so-called Kelvin Timeline - the alternate timeline established in the J.J. Abrams Trek films.

During the Television Critics Association Press Tour earlier this year, co-showrunner Alex Kurtzman teased a Picard that may look quite different for fans of the series.

"What happens when circumstances have conspired to not give him the happiest of endings?"

What do you think about the new Star Trek: Picard poster?
