AT&T Rolls Out Robocall Block

AT&T turns on automatic robocall blocking for wireless customers

AT&T announced on Tuesday that it will soon be enabling a feature that blocks robocalls by default.

This work comes amid growing a uproar from the federal government and customers over spam calls. Whether or not the new system will accidentally block legitimate calls also remains to be seen, but as the service becomes more widespread, users can expect to discover more details about the system.

If you're an existing customer, don't worry: The company says it'll make this feature the default for you, too, in the coming months.

We aren't typically fans of opt-out services from wireless carriers, but robocall blocking is something we all need in our lives.

Dallas-based AT&T will soon become the first USA carrier to automatically block robocalls for millions of customers after an FCC ruling enabled the company to expand its efforts to fight back against spam callers. At times, they are illegal scams.

The determination of this matter is not final and can be appealed before the Provincial Court of Valencia. That test showed that Julio Iglesias Jr and Sanchez were brothers, Osuna claimed.

In a statement, Joan Marsh, AT&T's executive vice president of regulatory & state external affairs said the FCC has been a "tremendous partner in the war on robocalls". "The Commission's recent action builds on a years-long effort to enable broader adoption of call-blocking tools and allow providers to better protect their customers and networks".

If you are an AT&T Mobility customer and you don't want to wait, here's more good news: AT&T Call Protect is available right now for download as an app, or by going into your account settings on myAT&T and turning it on.

AT&T wireless customers can already download the carrier's Call Protect app and voluntarily opt in to the fraud-blocking feature.

Other carriers offer similar options, but AT&T is the first so far to automatically block calls. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said they were working to "stop the scourge of illegal robocalls".
