Jupiter will at its brightest in 2019 tomorrow night

Jupiter Is so Close This Week You Can See Its Moons Without a Telescope

Also, if a moon crosses in front of Jupiter, a phenomena known as a transit, it is lost in the planet's glare to amateur astronomers using binoculars.

As NASA notes in a blog post detailing its June skywatching tips, Jupiter will align with Earth and the sun tonight, standing alongside our planet and the fiery star in a ideal straight line. Those with binoculars should be able to see both the enormous planet, officially the largest in our solar system, and its four brightest moons-Io, Europa, Callisto and Ganymede.

Espey expects "it will be fairly low in the sky, but should be visible from any decent pair of binoculars".

According to a CNN report, Dr Robert Massey, Deputy Executive Director, Royal Astronomical Society, Britain, came out with a guide for novice sky gazers on how to spot the planet more easily. After roughly 30 minutes to an hour, your eyes become fully dark-adapted, allowing you to make out faint objects in low light.

The planet rises in the east at sunset, climbs high through the sky throughout the night, and goes down in the west in the morning. The sky will be dark enough.

"The easiest thing to do is look up at the southeast sky near the horizon at around 10:00 p.m., and the brightest thing you see will be Jupiter", "At around 1:00 a.m., it will be due south in the sky and it will be 17 degrees up in the sky".

Don't worry if the weather is too cloudy or rainy to skywatch on Monday.

On Wednesday, June 12, the giant planet will be at its peak opposition, illuminating night skies across North America.

If you're a stargazer then you know that June is a great month for catching a glimpse of Jupiter at its biggest and brightest point in the night sky.

Between June 14 and 19, Jupiter will be at the center of another celestial event. While this arguably doesn't sound like most people's idea of close, the Earth's average distance to the monstrous planet is 786,884,800 kilometres. Look closely, the space agency advises, and you will see that the moon doesn't trace the same path followed by Earth and other planets orbiting the sun. Due to Jupiter's comparatively slower orbit around the Sun, Jupiter's opposition comes around once every 13 months.
