Rashid Khan named Wisden's leading Twenty20 cricketer for second year running

Virat Kohli was Wednesday named as one of Wisden´s Five Cricketers of the Year and also became the first player to win the award for leading cricketer in the world in three successive years.

Mandhana was rewarded for scoring 669 and 662 runs in ODIs and T20Is past year.

The 30-year-old also made it an unprecedented three years in a row as Wisden's leading male cricketer of the year, with his 2,735 runs in all formats besting Joe Root by more than 700.

India's Smriti Mandhana, who scored 1,291 runs in limited overs, was named the Leading Cricketer in the women's game while Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan was named the Leading Twenty20 Cricketer for the second consecutive year.

Twelve months ago Curran was still emerging as a hotly-tipped prospect at the Kia Oval, but after making his worldwide bow went on to become man-of-the-series in Tests against India, earned his ODI debut and went on to clinch an £800,000 Indian Premier League deal.

During 2018, India captain Kohli scored five Test hundreds and amassed an impressive 1,322 runs - 299 more than any other player.

The Indian talisman was picked as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the year, along with England's Tammy Beaumont, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran and Rory Burns. That performance also earned him a spot in the English Test side that toured Sri Lanka and West Indies.

As a batsman past year he has scored 2735 at a rate of approximately 68.37, which included 11 centuries.

The 156th edition of the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, published on Thursday, offers a highly sceptical take on The Hundred, the new format due to debut on the domestic circuit next year.

Following the IPL, his focus would be to lead Team India to their historic third World Cup title, in England.

The Leading Cricketer of the Year honours are more recent, and serve as a hat tip to global performances, with no restrictions on the number of wins.
