Mueller report finds no evidence that Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation

That signals there might be no more criminal charges against Trump associates on the issue of whether the Trump campaign conspired with Russian Federation to help the real estate magnate beat Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race.

The headline finding was that no "Trump campaign official or associate conspired or knowingly co-ordinated" with operatives connected to the Russian government during the presidential campaign.

After nearly two years of work by Mueller and a string of indictments of people in Trump's inner circle, many will be surprised - and critics and opponents of the president dismayed - by the main conclusions described by Barr.

Attorney General William Barr leaves his house March 24, 2019 in McLean, Virginia.

"While this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him", Mueller said in his final report, according to a summary of the findings released by Barr.

Many pointed out that Mueller's report doesn't exonerate Trump - instead, it seems to be leaving that question to Congress. "And certainly unprecedented for an attorney general who campaigned for the role by saying presidents can hardly ever commit obstruction of justice". As a result, Democrats will spare no effort in order to obtain and make public the report in its entirety.

Barr said he determined that none of Trump's actions amounted to obstruction and that there was not sufficient evidence to show he acted with a "corrupt intent". The US President warned "somebody is going to be looking at the other side" during a speech on CNN.

For their part, Democrats called for Mueller's full report to be released and vowed to press on with their own investigation, setting up future clashes with the White House.

Barr noted that Mueller couldn't prove that Trump was involved in any underlying crimes related to Russian election interference.

Was the Mueller report a "total exoneration" for Trump?

Many of Trump's opponents accused him of obstructing the Russian Federation probe when he fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017. Instead, Barr said, Mueller laid out the evidence he found on the subject.

"The report found evidence on both sides of the question" on obstruction and "leaves unresolved what the special counsel views as hard issues of law", Mr Barr wrote.

The Justice Department and the Special Counsel's Office did not charge the president or his family members with any criminal wrongdoing.

A report stressed: 'Trump is guilty of nothing, even according to Mueller'.

Jaso said the fact that Barr made the determination in concert with Rosenstein provides Barr with political cover.
