John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 reported that the last-place Phoenix Suns have signed Fredette through the end of the season, with a team option for the 2019-2020 season.

According to Arizona Sports 98.7's John Gambadoro, the Suns' plans could include five-year National Basketball Association veteran Jimmer Fredette.

The Suns are 17-55 heading into Thursday night's game and have not reached the postseason since 2010.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Jimmer Fredette (32) in action against the Atlanta Hawks in the third quarter at Philips Arena.

After leading the nation in scoring and winning United States college player of the year honors in 2011 at Brigham Young University, Fredette played three seasons with Sacramento before stops at Chicago, New Orleans and NY.

The former BYU star was originally selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2011 draft. With the Suns mathematically out of the playoffs and not wanting to injure key players like Devin Booker, Fredette potentially could receive quite a bit of playing time in the final few games of the year. Fredette led the league in scoring with 36.9 points per game in 2018-19.

The 30-year-old is now averaging 36 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.3 assists for the Shanghai Sharks.
