New Zealand Announces Plans For Gun Reform Following Mosque Shootings

New Zealand PM Says Got'Manifesto From Gunman'9 Minutes Before Attack

The terrorist who led an attack in which 50 people were gunned down in two mosques is believed to have travelled to Britain on a two-month tour of Europe which galvinised his extremism, the Telegraph can reveal.

Australian man Brenton Tarrant remains the only person to be charged with murder over the shooting sprees at the Deans Ave and Linwood Masjid six kilometres away during Friday prayers. Tarrant, charged with one count of murder, will remain in custody until his next court appearance on April 5.

New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that the country's firearms regulations would change following the violent attacks on two mosques in the city of Christchurch.

A gunman attacked the mosques on Friday, killing 50 people and leaving dozens badly injured. She said she only usually saw such crowds at the shop's annual sale. "He sat in his auto and with the shotgun in my hands, I threw it through his window like an arrow". "I've lost my little boy, he's just turned 14", he told the paper, adding that his son had been a keen footballer.

Retired electrical engineer Ali Elmadani from UAE and futsal player 14-year-old Sayyad Milne, are also among the victims. Some played guitar, sang and lit candles as darkness fell.

Members of a Maori motorbike gang performed a haka war-dance at one site.

Desperate for any news, families and friends of the victims gathered at the city's Hagley College, near the hospital.

Ardern said she had spoken with Trump, who asked how he could help.

Wearing a black scarf, Ardern hugged members of the Muslim community at a refugee center on Saturday, saying she would ensure freedom of religion. And a young child who was in a children's hospital in Auckland was also listed as critical. It was still unclear whether any other shooters were involved in the attacks. More people were killed in an attack on a second mosque a short time later. "It's just comprehending what is the incomprehensible".

Victims came from across the Muslim world, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

When asked whether this was a normal response time, Commissioner Bush said it met expectations. At least three Bangladeshis were among those killed, AP reports, and the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that four Jordanians had died.

President Donald Trump, who has a record of Islamophobic rhetoric, online behavior and policies, tweeted out his "warmest sympathy and best wishes" to the people of New Zealand.

She said: "I was one of more than 30 recipients of a manifesto that was mailed out nine minutes before the attack took place".

He said his government expressed compassion and solidarity over this "despicable act affecting our neighbours".

Amid the sadness, there have also been tales of heroes such as Alabi Lateef and a fellow worshipper, who followed the 28-year-old Australian gunman to his auto and used a discarded rifle to smash the vehicle's back window.

Facebook said it had removed 1.5 million videos of the attack from the social media platform within 24 hours of the incident. I had a regular childhood, without any great issues.

The violence has also shone a new light on gun control.

Ardern said Tarrant was a licensed gun owner who bought the five guns used in the crimes legally.

He used a semi-automatic shotgun as well as a modified semi-automatic rifle as he pummelled victims with multiple bullets.

Watch: PM Ardern's comments on tightening gun laws.

Media has reported a rush to buy guns before any ban is brought in.

We know that from this devastation and deep mourning, the people of New Zealand will unite to show that such evil can never defeat compassion and tolerance.
