Gboard for iOS adds text translation support: Here’s how to use it

Supporting 103 languages, the Google Translate on Gboard is available on version 1.42 of the keyboard and on iPhones and iPads running iOS9 or higher, Engadget reported on Friday. This time, the company is just unveiling a new feature that makes Gboard capable of instantly translate a text as you type it. On the next screen, a strip will show various options, such as direct access to YouTube and Search.

You can now type in multiple languages without having to change the language! This month, the Gboard update is all about being able to translate text into lots of different languages with very little effort on your part. The app automatically detects the language you're typing in and lets you then select which language you want to translate to. To date, Gboard has language support for nearly 700 languages.

Once the correct languages are selected, the user merely has to hit the "Translate" button at the bottom of Gboard. The updated Gboard app is now available in Apple's App Store and offers a number of other features that are not available in the stock Apple keyboard, including glide typing.
