Former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel signs player agreement with AAF

Johnny Manziel set to join AAF, report says

After stops in the NFL and Canadian Football League, Johnny Manziel will attempt to continue his football career in the Alliance of American Football.

Former Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy victor Johnny Manziel has signed a player agreement with the Alliance of American football, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The quarterback's rights belonged to San Antonio of the spring league, but that team declined to sign him and Manziel then was free to join any of the other seven clubs. The Memphis Express now boast a 1-5 record, and the Salt Lake Stallions hold a 2-4 record - making them the first two teams in the league's waiver process. He's their second quarterback this season, after the team started with Christian Hackenberg but later benched the former Penn State quarterback.

Manziel completed 68 percent of his passes for 3,706 yards and 26 touchdowns. Memphis has struggled on offense throughout the season. He spent two seasons with the Cleveland Browns after being picked up in the 2014 National Football League draft, but went 2-6 as their starting quarterback.

The agreement is a three-year deal worth $250,000. However, players can earn more in incentives.
