"In this suicide attack a vehicle filled with explosives blew up besides a bus carrying a unit of the Guards' ground forces causing the martyrdom and wounding of a number of the protectors of our Islamic homeland's border", the statement read.
The attack happened on the road between the cities of Zahedan and Khash, a volatile area near the Pakistan border where militant groups and drug smugglers frequently operate.
While Sunni militant groups are not regarded as a major threat, the attack dealt a fresh blow to Iran's security establishment, which has often said it can repel any threat no matter how big, even from the United States and its ally Israel.
In June 2017, gunmen and suicide bombers attacked Iran's parliament in central Tehran and the Mausoleum of founder of Islamic Revolution Guard Ayatollah Rohullah Khomeini killing at least 13 people. It was the deadliest such attack in Iran in almost a decade.
Jaish al-Adl, formed in 2012, is a successor to the extremist group Jundallah (Soldiers of God), which has carried out a spate of attacks on Iranian security forces in recent years in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan.

Mammograms, breast cancer treatment saving thousands of lives
The study of 2,900 women at 34 screening centres, found tumours in 50 women aged 35 to 39 who had breast cancer in their family. The charity's chief executive, Baroness Delyth Morgan said that earlier tests could prove to be "an enormous breakthrough".
The Revolutionary Guard also launched six ballistic missiles as well as drone bombers in October toward eastern Syria, targeting militants it blamed for an attack on a military parade that killed at least 24 people.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which came on the day of a US -led conference in Warsaw that included discussions on what America describes as Iran's malign influence across the wider Mideast.
"Especially when cohorts of same terrorists cheer it from Warsaw streets & support it with twitter bots?" Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted.
The group's Quds Force unit said the United States, its allies and Zionism shared responsibility for the attack, without elaborating on the claim. Trump withdrew the US from the accord last May.
Iranian border guards have repeatedly come under attacks by terror outfits active on the Pakistani soil.
