Tottenham vs Leicester City, Premier League

Spurs news Mauricio Pochettino Alan Shearer

Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min deserved a penalty in the 3-1 home win over Leicester City on Sunday and it was "unbelievable" that he was booked for diving instead by referee Michael Oliver, manager Mauricio Pochettino has said.

The game also saw another penalty debate, after Son Heung Min appeared to be tripped by Leicester defender Harry Maguire in the first half but referee Michael Oliver brandished a yellow card to the South Korea global.

Despite doing enough to secure an important three points, Tottenham did very little to impress Schmeichel, who was heavily critical of their display.

"In terms of performance, we have to do better if we want to dream of big achievements, but in terms of mentality and in terms of spirit you can not ask for more", Lloris said.

"They didn't create chances".

"We need to obviously improve the team performance and we need the stadium full and ready to push and to help us".

"I have to congratulate the players".

The South Korean went on to get on the scoresheet at Wembley, putting the finishing touches on a win that had been set up by Davinson Sanchez and Christian Eriksen goals. Same referee. I'm more relaxed because we won.

"It was the same referee but now I don't know how he has measured the situation. Unbelievable, unbelievable, unbelievable", Pochettino said.

Pochettino was particularly pleased with Lloris, who made nine saves throughout the match.

'In some days it's hard to deal with Wembley but hopefully in this big game we'll receive this help from the crowd'.

Pochettino said Son's penalty call was an easier decision to make than the one the Foxes spurned after midfielder James Maddison appeared to be fouled by Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen, Reuters reported.

"I think it's hard", he said. We have had a lot of opportunities, not just the penalty. We kept consistency, so it's a great feeling in the changing room.

"Normally Jamie takes the penalty and I gave him the opportunity. Now, yes (I am pleased) but more than the mistake of whoever shot (the penalty), it was a massive save from my goalkeeper".
