Savage Released on Bond From ICE Detainment

21 Savage

The type of visa Savage applied for is one that is set aside for victims of crime, which the rapper's lawyers believe he would be eligible for after surviving a shooting in the U.S.in 2013.

His verse did not air during the performance and no one filled in for him. As the United States continues to see a crackdown on undocumented immigration, US citizens can expect to see many more of these high-profile deportation cases in the future.

The fact that Abraham-Joseph wasn't on ICE's radar aside, the rapper has been very outspoken about his dislike for ICE and the controversies that come with USA immigration. If he is deported, he could be barred from returning to the US for 10 years.

Last week, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted out the lyrics in question: "The gas was off, so we had to boil up the water/ Been through some things so I can't imagine my kids stuck at the border/ Flint still need water/ People was innocent, couldn't get lawyers".

They say he is British and in the United States illegally.

The attorneys also said ICE was incorrect that Abraham-Joseph has a felony conviction on his record. He was convicted of federal drug charges in 2014, which ICE cited as part of his arrest. Since his arrest last week, the artist has been held by ICE without bond.

Cardi B deleted her Instagram
BET tweeted about Cardi B's historic win, writing, "Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront". Before deleting the account, Cardi shared a video of herself clapping back at those criticising her.

ICE is using the excuse that Abraham-Joseph is a "convicted felon" to justify detaining him because the agency knows that even though he is now here illegally, he is not risky. In 2005, Abraham-Joseph was issued a temporary visa which expired a year later, when he was only 13 years of age. So why didn't they detain him then? I blame it on lame people being LAME. When people hear his music and see his tattoos and mugshot from 2014, they automatically assume that he's a unsafe threat and needs to go back to Britain.

He has previously described a childhood in Atlanta during interviews.

The rapper is known in the city as a person who frequently donates to charitable causes - and he launched his own campaign promoting financial literacy in children on the Ellen show. Or does his single mugshot outshine that? The UK citizen and longtime Atlanta resident originally came with family from the United Kingdom when he was seven years old, spending the majority of his life in Decatur, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. Over the weekend, Abraham-Joseph's family members posted social media images of dozens of handwritten letters from Atlanta-area school children calling on immigration officials not to deport the rapper. Because they stayed, he had to stay as well.

If anything, when the rapper is released, he will probably advocate even more for the many people who are being mistreated by ICE and the USA immigration system.

In the long run, will ICE's deliberate detainment of Abraham-Joseph really accomplish anything?
