See the first look at Will Smith's blue Genie in Aladdin trailer

Will Smith stunned Grammys viewers Sunday night as he made a very blue appearance as the Genie from "Aladdin".

Disney just debuted the latest trailer for their highly anticipated live-action remake of Aladdin, and they finally granted your wish: your first full look at Will Smith in action as the Genie.

The minute-long spot offers brief glimpses at Aladdin (Mena Massoud), Jasmine (Naomi Scott), Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) and the other denizens of Agrabah in the Guy Ritchie-helmed musical, due out May 24. Could Will Smith end up providing a performance just as good as the original?

An earlier teaser, showing Massoud but not Smith, was released in the fall.

"He's big blue Genie", Lin previously said.

The 50-year-old actor appeared in his Genie costume - which was published on the cover of Entertainment Weekly in December - but this time, entirely blue, seemingly with some CGI effects. Smith even tried to preempt criticism in an Instagram post.

"You really don't know who I am?"

One Disney exec told EW that Will's Genie is part Fresh Prince and part Hitch. "There hasn't been a lot of that hip-hop flavor in Disney history".

Aladdin opens on May 23 in Australia and May 24 in the USA and UK.
