GLAAD: Kevin Hart "Shouldn't Have Stepped Down" From Hosting Oscars

Kevin Hart arrives at the Los Angeles premiere of

GLAAD previously tweeted that the LGBTQ media advocacy organization had reached out to ABC, the Academy, and Hart's management "to discuss Kevin's anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and record as well as opportunities for positive LGBTQ inclusion on the Oscars stage". And that leaves only one logical choice to replace him.

If you recall, back in 2012, Eddie opted-out of hosting of the 84th Academy Awards following the Academy's issues with filmmaker Brett Ratner due to his use of a homophobic slur.

Insiders say that celebrities in Hollywood don't want to host the Oscars as it places "a target on your back", just as it did with Hart.

The internet certainly thinks the Flyers' lovable - and definitely not scary -mascot should host. "I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past", wrote Hart. But they had already been screen-captured and been shared online.

In an earlier post on Thursday, Hart wrote on Instagram that critics should "stop being negative" about his earlier anti-gay remarks.

"I'm nearly 40 years old".

Hart's attitudes about homosexuality were also a well-known part of his stand-up act.

Hart did say, however, that the academy told him to apologize publicly or he'd lose the gig.

Police later said they had spoken to the man and that he was a "person of interest", although he was not held in custody. Ms Millane was last seen at CityLife Hotel in Auckland at 9:41pm on December 1, accompanied by the 26-year-old man.

Kevin Hart received a warm welcome this weekend in Australia, where he performed two comedy shows at a stadium, just after he stepped down as host of the 2019 Oscars following backlash over past anti-gay tweets.

When Rolling Stone asked Hart about his anti-gay schtick in 2015, Hart said, "I wouldn't tell that joke today, because when I said it, the times weren't as sensitive as they are now".

'He checks all the boxes for a show like the Oscars.

Between Tuesday night and Thursday night, there was a public pushback over Hart's selection. No matter, though, because Twitter is full of ideas to help the Academy find a suitable replacement.

Griffin hoped Hart's departure would open the door for a woman comedian to host the show.

"I'm thankful that he acknowledged things that maybe weren't right, and he'll come back from this", Crews said.

'I think it's embarrassing.
