Sean Dyche hits back at Jurgen Klopp after tackling criticism

Liverpool lose Gomez for six weeks

Just yesterday, Liverpool broke their own record by having their best start to the Premier League campaign in the club's illustrious history after beating Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor.

Liverpool lost Joe Gomez to an ankle injury after a first-half challenge from Ben Mee, but Dyche said the only tackle that Klopp had any right to complain about was one from Phil Bardsley on Alberto Moreno.

But that has drawn a stinging response from Dyche, who claimed that England striker Sturridge dived to win a free-kick in the first 15 minutes of Wednesday's game. Dyche told his post match press conference.

'You get the ball, nice, but it's like bowling because you get the player as well.

"It happened four or five times, everybody likes it, but Joe is injured, and probably not only a little bit".

"So it's a fact, it's not something I wanted, you want to go on and be recognised - and we have - but we need to use this to our advantage, and I think we did (on Wednesday)".

"There were some excellent tackles last night", Dyche said.

"I think Ben Mee's was a fantastic tackle and I imagine that a player, who seems to me an honest player, like Gomes, I think he realised that".

"It's amusing, he didn't reference Daniel Sturridge's cheating", Dyche said a news conference on Thursday.

"That was the message we received after".

Dyche, however, was quick to praise his team and take a dig at Klopp's side for alleged 'cheating'. "I didn't see anything in it other than players trying to win a football match, and showing the will, courage and demand to try to win a football match against one of the top sides in the country".
