Microsoft is not the only company working toward inclusivity for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Now, Microsoft is trying to enhance these applications to reach out to a wider audience. Coinciding with the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the new feature will give users a real-time transcription of what's being said in a call, making it easier to keep up for everyone, but particularly for those who may require assistance due to a hearing disability.
Microsoft is introducing a major feature for PowerPoint and Skype.
Real-time captions and subtitles on Skype can be turned on by simple settings that let you toggle between specific calls or be default on all calls. By enabling the feature, users will get to read translated subtitles in the language of their choice. There's no mention of when this particular new feature will roll out. For showing subtitles and captions, the PowerPoint will support around 60 text languages.

Microsoft explained that the new AI-powered live captions and subtitles have been optimized to be "fast, continuous, and contextually update as people speak". In a future update, the developers plan to enable an optional separate window for subtitles so you can scroll back in case you miss something. But the built-in translation skills for PowerPoint and Skype will also help those of us who need to communicate with people in different languages.
As it is, the feature automatically scrolls through in your call.
To use Skype's live captioning features, simply press the "more" or "+" button during a video call and toggle the subtitles on. Turn on the switch to Show subtitles for all voice and video calls.
