Microsoft promises to improve Windows 10 quality

Microsoft Re-Releases Windows 10 October 2018 Update, Outlines Rigorous QC Regimen

Windows 10 Insider preview build 18282 for the Fast Ring Ring brings with it an update to the Windows 10 Update process.

KrebsOnSecurity has frequently suggested that Windows users wait a day or two after Microsoft releases monthly security updates before installing the fixes, with the rationale that occasionally buggy patches can cause serious headaches for users who install them before all the kinks are worked out.

"We will up our effort to improve our ability to prevent issues and our ability to respond quickly and openly when issues do arise", Microsoft's Windows Corporate VP Michael Fortin said on the company's Windows blog.

In terms of Windows 10 version 1809 features, Microsoft is highlighting the dark mode in File Explorer. Ironically, the rollout of the update has now resumed, almost two weeks into November.

Once a product is ready, heading to the settings menu of the system and pressing "check for updates" should present users with a prompt to receive the new operating system.

Microsoft announced Wednesday that it's rereleasing the Windows 10 October 2018 Update. In a blog entry, the first in a series, Microsoft goes into depth about its testing process, and its plans to fix it up for next time.

Apart from recurring sound issues that always seem to find its way in every Windows 10 update, the 1809 update also brought a file deletion bug that brought havoc on users by deleting their personal files. Now, more than a month after being pulled, the update is generally available to consumers.

Although the firm insisted it was keen to release the new update, it emphasised it was going to continue the delivery "in a more measured approach" overall.

The new update should start rolling out soon to Windows 10 PCs, or you can manually check for updates and get it right away.

"In addition to extensive internal validation, we have taken time to closely monitor feedback and diagnostic data from our Windows Insiders and from the millions of devices on the Windows 10 October Update, and we have no further evidence of data loss". You won't get bugged to install it, you won't be able to download it via Windows 10, no, nada.
