Indian bowler's unique action becomes the talk of the town

The video of the same is already going viral and the debate has sparked up whether the umpires were right in refraining the bowler to bowl with that action.

There were discussions on social media that if a batsman is allowed to switch hit why can't a bowler be allowed a variation such as 360 degree rotation on delivery stride.

He was playing against Bengal in the CK Nayudu Trophy - a four-day domestic tournament for under-23s - when he ran in to bowl.

Uttar Pradesh's young left arm spinner Shiva Singh's unconventional delivery stride with a 360-degree rotation during a CK Nayudu Trophy match against Bengal was called a dead ball by the umpires but his freaky move did generate a lot of discussion. The ball pitched just wide of leg stump and the batsman blocked it out on the leg side. The match happened in Kalyani; and as soon as Shiva turned while switching the ball from his left to right and back to left hand delivering round the wicket, the umpire declared it a dead ball, even though the batsman defended seemingly unperturbed.

But former England captain Michael Vaughan posted saying he saw nothing wrong with delivery. "But when bowlers do something like this it's deemed a dead ball", Shiva was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

As per section 4 of Law 42 (Fair and Unfair Play), "It is unfair for any fielder deliberately to attempt to distract the striker while he is preparing to receive or receiving a delivery". "Another point made by the law is for the umpire to decide if he felt the action was done in order to distract the striker", the blog read.

"Unless the 360-degree twirl was part of the bowler's run-up for every ball, the umpire may need to consider whether he/she feels that the twirl was done in an attempt to distract the batsman in some way".

"Firstly, the Laws don't dictate what a bowler's run-up should look like".

Paige Cordona asked - 'if batsmen can reverse sweep, what's stopping a bowler from doing that?
