BBC criticised over Arron Banks appearing on Andrew Marr Show

Arron Banks tweet Nov 2018

Funding from Arron Banks will now be investigated as part of a possible criminal conspiracy that links donations to impermissible sources.

"Basically Arron Banks said the money came from a holding company that he told the Select Committee provides services to the other companies he owns", said the Conservative MP.

Collins told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that Banks' TV appearance had gone "not very far" in establishing the facts.

The money was spent with the digital data company Aggregate IQ, which should have been declared by the Brexit campaign group.

"I have written to the prime minister to ask if she or any other minister or senior official has at any stage declined a request from any of our security, intelligence or law enforcement agencies to investigate Banks", he said.

Mr Banks revealed he will be publishing bank statements on Monday that show "no money came in from overseas foreign sources". It's not selling products and services and generating cash.

The Observer says it has seen internal emails leaked by former employees of Eldon Insurance, another of Mr Banks's companies, and Rock Services that show they worked on the Leave.EU campaign from their company offices.

This would have made it an "impermissible" source of money under United Kingdom electoral law.

Dolphins coach addresses Reshad Jones mystery
Jones is as hurt as he's been all season. "If I don't turn the ball over, I feel like we have a good chance to win that ballgame". At 3-6, the Jets likely are doomed to miss the playoffs yet again, and now they must seriously evaluate their rookie quarterback.

"The money came from Rock Services which was a United Kingdom limited company". "No matter how many times he was asked that question, he didn't answer it".

Mr Banks denied any business links with Russian Federation as he stated he is "not going to apologise for having lunch with a diplomat, I've had lunch with many diplomats".

The "unprecedented" involvement of the NCA in the case was an important step because the agency was able to examine all financial records of Banks's businesses, including in areas outside United Kingdom jurisdiction such as the Isle of Man, said Mr Collins. "I want to be absolutely clear about that", he said.

Richard Tice of Leave Means Leave told BBC Newsnight that "Remoaners" were using the investigation as an excuse to try and overturn Brexit.

In a separate investigation, Open Democracy also published evidence that suggests a significant crossover between Banks's insurance and political staff during the campaign.

The Electoral Commission's review of referendum finances focused on £2m reported to have been loaned to Better for the Country by Banks and his insurance companies and a £6m donation he made alone.

Mr Banks denied Rock Services was a "shell company" that did not have sufficient funds to be the source of the money for Better for the Country (BFTC), which ran Leave.EU.
