Chinese Diplomat Allegedly Commits Suicide By Jumping Off Building

The 55-kilometer-long bridge, situated in the Lingdingyang waters of the Pearl River Estuary, will be the world's longest sea bridge. The bridge is lined with towers topped by dolphins, Chinese Knots and ship sails to symbolize the three different regions, according to the South China Morning Post.

It will slash the travel time between Hong Kong and Zhuhai from three hours to just 30 minutes, further integrating the cities in the Pearl River Delta. "But this bridge is very visible ... you can see it from the plane when you fly in to Hong Kong, and it's breathtaking", lawmaker Claudia Mo told CNN earlier in the year.

For China, it is a plan to develop its Greater Bay Area in terms of technological innovation and economic success.

In a ceremony on Tuesday that Chinese president Xi Jinping will reportedly attend, the bridge will officially open.

Krishnapal Singh said the family will now meet senior police officers and request them to take action against the primates. Villagers have reportedly complained about aggressive monkeys in the area, but the animals are a protected species.

"Xi Jinping's visit to the region also reinforces Hong Kong's role in the cross-border economy approach that China is developing", said Dr. Winnie King, a specialist in Chinese worldwide political economy at the University of Bristol. The bridge is part of Beijing's " Greater Bay Area" Scheme, which aims to provide better transport links between Hong Kong and mainland China.

While, some residents fear its arrival will see the city swamped by tourists from mainland China.

A $20-billion bridge connecting Hong Kong and Macau to the mainland Chinese city of Zhuhai is set to finally open this week, marking the completion of the longest sea-crossing bridge ever built, nine years after construction began.
