President Trump Announces Aid Cuts to Multiple Countries Over Illegal Caravan

Honduran migrants heading in a caravan to the US help a man holding a child get down to the Suchiate River from the Guatemala Mexico international border bridge in Ciudad Hidalgo Chiapas state Mexico

Trump tweeting, "Sadly, it looks like Mexico's Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States".

The President tweeted Monday that he'd spoken to the leaders of several central American nations, including Honduras, where the current "migrant caravans" originate, and informed them that the United States could reconsider global financial aid programs aimed at central America if the outflow does not abate.

The president tweeted Monday, citing no evidence, that "criminals and unknown Middle Easterners" were part of the migrant caravan.

He criticized El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico for not stopping the group or otherwise curbing.

President Trump announced Monday morning he is starting the process to cut or reduce aid to Central American countries that haven't stopped a caravan of illegal aliens.

"Every time you see a Caravan, or people illegally coming, or attempting to come, into our Country illegally, think of and blame the Democrats for not giving us the votes to change out pathetic Immigration Laws!" he tweeted.

Members of the illegal immigrant caravan chanted "si se pudo!" as they made their way north through Mexico Monday, having defied the will of one country and vowing to test the spine of another, the USA, very soon.

Mexican police in riot gear shadowed the caravan's arrival along a southern highway but did not impede the migrants' journey.

Central American migrants, part of a caravan trying to reach the US, line up as they wait to open the gate on the bridge that connects Mexico and Guatemala in Ciudad Hidalgo, Mexico, October 21, 2018.

The large group have been gathering numbers as they travel across Central America.

Mexican authorities tried to stop them from travelling across a border bridge between Mexico and Guatemala.

Many have left their homes for lots of different reasons, but it believed that some reasons could be violence and poverty in the countries where they live, and the hope of a better life elsewhere.

Members of a migrant caravan walk into the interior of Mexico after crossing the Guatemalan border on October 21 near Ciudad Hidalgo, Mexico.

With the migrants now well into Mexico, Trump blasted the governments of Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala for allowing the caravan to get this far in the first place.

Migrants have received help along the way, receiving donated water, food, and clothing.

The current migrant caravan has tested the limits of American patience.
