Emotional Kasatkina comes back from the brink to win Kremlin Cup

Ons Jabeur to play Kasatkina in Kremlin Cup final

"I really enjoyed playing here this week", the 101st-ranked Tunisian said. I haven't really thought about changing my personality.

The 101st-ranked Jabeur is now guaranteed to surpass the previous best ranking by a woman from an Arab country.

Playing her first WTA final, and a first for a Tunisian, Jabeur recovered with some aggressive returns as she reeled off four games in a row to claim the first set. Against Ekaterina Makarova in the first round, she didn't immediately realize she'd won and moved to serve again as Makarova went to shake hands.

Facing Kasatkina in the semi-finals is set to be Britain's Johanna Konta, who beat Belarus's Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6.

Jabeur played high-risk tennis, with 45 winners and 65 unforced errors, against 12 winners and 26 unforced errors for the defense-first Kasatkina.

The world number 14 took her first and only WTA singles title at the 2017 Volvo Car Open in Charleston in the United States when she defeated Latvia's Jeļena Ostapenko for the title.

"I remember 10 years ago when I was a kid I came here and was dreaming that (some day) I would stand on this central court holding the trophy aloft", Kasatkina said at the award ceremony. Osaka said her life had changed since the US Open but vowed to remain focused on tennis.

Kasatkina also showed her class when she praised Jabeur for her performance at the event.

"I think, even she [Ons Jabeur] doesn't know what to expect from herself". In his attempt to win his first ever ATP title, Mannarino will face Russian Karen Khachanov who beat compatriot Daniil Medvedev 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 in the other semi-final.

Second seed Daniil Medvedev of Russian Federation beat last year's runner-up Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 will face third-seeded compatriot Karen Khachanov, who saw off Mirza Basic of Bosnia 6-2, 7-6 (7/5).
