Julian Assange: Wikileaks co-founder takes legal action against Ecuador

LONDON ENGLAND- FEBRUARY 05 Wikileaks founder Julian Assange prepares to speak from the balcony of the Ecuadorian embassy where he continues to seek asylum following an extradition request from Sweden in 2012

Ecuador gave Assange diplomatic asylum, but there's always been friction between the white-haired troublemaker and his Ecuadorian hosts.

His internet and mobile phone access were partially restored on Sunday, according to both Wikileaks and Assange's legal adviser Greg Barns.

Garzon said that "was a decision made by the government of Ecuador and accepted by Assange" and that failure of the plan, later blocked by the British Foreign Office, wasn't his client's fault. "The embassy has the right to protect its offices, the officials who work there, and even Mr. Assange himself", he wrote.

Ecuador this month created the new protocol governing the Australian's stay at the embassy.

The WikiLeaks account, which is no longer controlled by Assange, tweeted a link this morning outlining Assange's complaints.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is seeking a court injunction pressing Ecuador to provide basic rights he says the country agreed to when it first granted him asylum at its London embassy.

WikiLeaks lawyer Baltasar Garzon is now in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, to launch the case, which is set to be heard in a domestic court next week, according to United Kingdom media reports.

Nigeria's life expectancy may rise to 74 in 2040
The average lifespan in the United Kingdom is expected to rise slightly from 80.8 years to 83.3 by 2040, research has shown. That being said, the researchers added that there's "great potential to alter the downward trajectory of health".

It claims the government of Ecuador refused a visit by Human Rights Watch general counsel Dinah PoKempner and had not allowed several meetings with his lawyers.

"Ecuador's measures against Julian Assange have been widely condemned by the human rights community", it added.

It also threatened to confiscate Assange's cat if he didn't take better care of its "well-being, food, and hygiene".

Assange's lawyers said they were also challenging the legality of the Ecuador government's "special protocol", revealed earlier this week, which makes his political asylum contingent on "censoring" his freedom of opinion, speech and association.

The organisation further accused Ecuador of allying itself with the USA under President Lenin Moreno. The US case against Julian Assange dates back to the Obama administration 2010, but has been expanded under Trump to include the biggest leak in Central Intelligence Agency history, Vault 7.

However, a warrant for Mr Assange's arrest - issued in 2012 after he failed to surrender to a court when his extradition was approved - remains in place. He fled to the embassy after skipping bail in the UK.
