Saudi consul's home to be searched for Khashoggi clues

Senior US senator says Saudi 'murdered' Khashoggi

But the United States president also said "rogue killers" could be behind the disappearance and that King Salman had told him Saudi Arabia is "working closely with Turkey to find answers".

Turkish authorities have told MEE that they have video and audio recordings of the journalist's alleged murder, and found evidence of blood in the consulate's sewage system before being allowed into the consulate.

The high-profile meeting came in the backdrop of media reports suggesting that Jamal Khashoggi might not be alive and that Saudi Arabia was mulling an admission that he died during a botched up interrogation.

But Pompeo suggested any possible US response would weigh its "important relations" with Saudi Arabia - a point made often by President Donald Trump that has raised speculation the United States may be unwilling to jeopardize business and security ties with the kingdom.

Google said that Diane Greene, the tech giant's cloud leader, will not be attending a conference in Saudi Arabia as questions swirl around the disappearance of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. "Riyadh will have to provide some explanation of the journalist's disappearance, but in a manner that distances the leadership from any claim that a decision was made at senior levels to assassinate the prominent journalist".

But Turkey appeared intent to further build its claims against Saudi Arabia.

The investigators, who eventually searched the premises for eight hours into this morning, took samples with them, including soil from the consulate garden, one official at the scene said.

President Donald Trump says it "certainly looks" as though missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is dead.

Trump making opponents do the stupidest things
In the infrastructure of systemic racism she has not experienced the same discrimination that a person of color has experienced. According to Warren, while she does have cousins who are tribal citizens, she wished she was clearer on her heritage.

"Under global law, both a forced disappearance and an extra-judicial killing are very serious crimes, and immunity should not be used to impede investigations into what happened and who is responsible", Bachelet said. The Saudi government didn't respond to a request for comment.

Pompeo arrived at a royal palace in Riyadh on Tuesday.

Overnight, Turkish forensic teams searched the consulate building in Istanbul where Mr Khashoggi was last seen entering.

Turkey has wanted to search the consulate for days.

Earlier Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested investigators were looking into possibility that evidence of toxic materials had been concealed. In statements after the call, both praised the creation of a joint Saudi-Turkish probe.

Consul general Mohammed al-Otaibi took off for Riyadh on a 1400 GMT flight from Istanbul, the Haber-Turk newspaper reported on its website. Turkish officials fear he was killed and dismembered.

Khashoggi has written extensively for the Washington Post about Saudi Arabia, criticising its war in Yemen, the recent diplomatic spat with Canada and its arrest of women's rights activists after the lifting of a driving ban for women. "He's the 33-year-old prince who jumped over people". And details - if they can be proven - like an autopsy expert identified by name, stepping off a private jet from Saudi Arabia, carrying a bone saw to perform an "interrogation", may prove hard to explain away.

He then said "I can never do business with Saudi Arabia again until we get this behind us", then clarified "I'm not going back to Saudi Arabia as long as this guy is in charge". The fallout could affect oil prices and has implications that could reverberate around the world, including in South Africa.
