Alexa Has a New Whisper Mode, Here’s How to Use It

Alexa whisper mode

Amazon is expanding the ways you can interact with Alexa yet again.

A new "Whisper Mode" has launched, allowing Amazon's smart speaker to keep the volume down when needed.

It comes in response to complaints from customers that Alexa wakes up their partners, children and pets. Based on some early videos we have seen of the feature in action, you'll probably need to be pretty close to the device to hear her responses.

IPhone XR available for pre-order from Friday
As for Airtel, the iPhone XR can be booked via the telecom giant from today with down payments starting at Rs. 14,999. For selfies, the iPhone XR sports a 7MP selfie camera with a f/2.2 aperture along with a TrueDepth camera for FaceID.

Once the feature is activated, using it is simple: speak a command to Alexa quietly and the assistant will follow your lead, responding in a low whisper. TechCrunch also notes that you can turn on Whisper Mode by saying - what else?

Whisper Mode is reportedly powered by the same technology behind Alexa Guard, which recognises smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and glass breaking, turning Alexa into a home security system. The easiest way to do that is to just say "Alexa, turn on Whisper Mode". With the new feature, Amazon plans to make Alexa more human-like by letting it understand the tone of the voice and reply accordingly.

Incoming audio signals are broken into ultrashort snippets, and the long short-term memory network processes them in order.
