Saudi considers admitting Khashoggi died in botched op

Saudi Arabia has strongly denied killing Khashoggi.

"The denial was very, very strong", Trump told reporters.

The Saudi Gazette ran through the statements issued by state-run Arab news agencies, providing few details about the Khashoggi case itself.

Already, worldwide business leaders are pulling out of the kingdom's upcoming investment forum, a high-profile event known as Davos in the Desert, though it has no association with the World Economic Forum.

While organizers said Monday the conference will go on, the Saudis cancelled an annual diplomatic reception in Washington set for later this week.

Saudi Telecom are their longest running commercial partner and previous year United entered into a "strategic partnership" with the General Sports Authority of Saudi Arabia which involves United "lending its business and sporting expertise to clubs, sporting authorities and individuals in Saudi Arabia".

The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, is heading to Saudi Arabia as pressure increases on the country's leaders over the disappearance and alleged murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. They provided no further details.

Meanwhile, Arab countries expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia amid growing criticisms that the kingdom has not been fully cooperating with Turkish investigators.

Trump tweeted early Monday that Salman denied any knowledge of "whatever may have happened 'to our Saudi Arabian citizen'".

Australian PM Considering Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's Capital
Census figures show 12.5 percent of people in Wentworth are Jewish, a significantly larger proportion than elsewhere in Australia. The apparent change of policy was welcomed by Israel but swiftly criticized by Palestinian representatives .

"The king firmly denied any knowledge of it", Trump told reporters, saying he didn't "want to get into [Salman's] mind", but said: "It sounded to me like maybe these could have been "rogue killers".

The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, said the kingdom is weighing whether to say that rogue operatives killed Khashoggi by mistake during an interrogation. US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he still plans to attend but would "take (it). into account" if more information came out next week.

"Absolutely extraordinary they were able to enlist the President of the United States as their PR agent to float it". Pompeo is expected to go to Riyadh and later visit Turkey.

Turkish police investigators entered the Istanbul consulate late on Monday.

He was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Turkish officials have said he was killed and dismembered.

American lawmakers have threatened tough punitive action against the Saudis, and Germany, France and Britain have jointly called for a "credible investigation" into Khashoggi's disappearance.

Just last week, Trump vowed to uncover the truth about what happened to Khashoggi and promised "severe punishment" for those responsible.

- Bernie Sanders (@SenSanders) October 15, 2018 Next month, I plan to give the Senate another chance to vote on my resolution to end our support for the war in Yemen, to reassert Congressional authority over matters of war, and to show the Saudis that they do not have a blank check to continue human rights violations.

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia warned that if it "receives any action, it will respond with greater action, and that the kingdom's economy has an influential and vital role in the global economy".
