'Orange Is the New Black' is Ending With Season 7

Orange Is the New Black

"Orange Is the New Black" is wrapping up.

Cast members posted a video on Wednesday (US time) announcing the series' 2019 end, which was confirmed by a Netflix spokeswoman. Along with House of Cards, which will be wrapping up its run in November, the two shows put Netflix on the map for its prestige TV offerings.

Debuting in 2013, "Orange Is the New Black" earned an Emmy nomination in 2014 for Outstanding Comedy Series and another in 2015 for Outstanding Drama Series, when it chose to switch genres. We will be sad to say goodbye but we will definitely be going out on a high. "Let's go out on top!" Back in 2016, Netflix renewed the series from creator and executive producer Jenji Kohanfor for three seasons - seasons 5, 6 and 7 - at once. "In some cultures, 'May you lead an interesting life, ' is a curse, but I don't live in those cultures", Kohanfor said when the renewal announcement was made. "Season 7 you will not be disappointed, it is a season you will not forget, and we are going to give you everything and more that you could have ever wanted".

Now we can confirm that the series is indeed ending.

"Orange Is the New Black" ended on a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of its sixth season, with Piper released from Litchfield Penitentiary, after she and Alex had a prison wedding.

Over the years, the cast of OITNB has also included Ruby Rose, Taryn Manning, Dascha Polanco, Laverne Cox, Selenis Leyva, Yael Stone, Jackie Cruz, Laura Gomez, Jessica Pimentel, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Nick Sandow, Alyssa Reiner, Matt Peters, Emma Myles, Matt McGorry, Jason Biggs and Beth Dover.
