Mega Millions jackpot now $667M, 3rd largest in U.S. history

A worker processes lottery tickets

Six little numbered balls were drawn in the Mega Millions on Tuesday night, with a record jackpot of $667 million at stake.

The jackpot has been growing since July, when a group of California office workers won $543 million.

The jackpot may be claimed as $667 million before federal taxes as an annuity paid out over 29 years, or as a cash option of $380 million, according to the Associated Press. No ticket was sold that matched all six winning numbers, meaning the jackpot now climbs to $868 million. The cash option, which is favored by almost all winners, is $380 million.

The lion's share of Idlib is held by HTS, as well as more hardline jihadists like Hurras al-Deen and Ansar al-Islam. Observers have said that getting it to execute the deal's second half would be much more challenging.

The Mega Millions prize was already giant, but now it's even bigger.

It costs $2 to play the game, but the odds of winning the jackpot aren't good. The last Powerball jackpot, which totaled $245.6 million, was won August 11 by a man in Staten Island, New York.

The largest Powerball jackpot was $1.586 billion, which was shared by winners in California, Florida and Tennessee in January 2016. They chance of winning with one of the $2 tickets is a slim one in 302.5 million. Lottery officials also recommend the victor contact an attorney or financial advisory to help with the process. North Dakotans are on the opposite end of the spectrum, spending about $44 per year on the lottery, or the lowest average figure among residents of all 50 states.
