Camila Giorgi claims her second career title — WTA Linz

Alison Van Uytvanck Linz 2018

Camila Giorgi claimed her first WTA Tour title in three years as she cruised to a straight-sets victory over Ekaterina Alexandrova in the Linz Open final.

Alexandrova blew a stunned Petkovic away in a final set which lasted only 22 minutes. Alexandra held off further break points to record her first game of the set, however, that was only putting off the inevitable as Giorgi served out her next service game to clinch the second set 6-1.

Giorgi is tentatively set to rise to a new career-high ranking on Monday, and will likely be seeded at the 2019 Australian Open - a possible relief to the game's biggest names given her reputation as a risky floater.

Camila giorgi finished in second place in the last Linz WTA event a year ago. Giorgi won her first title back in 2015 at the Ricoh Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, defeating Belinda Bencic in the final.
