Takeaways from the UN's Startling Climate Report

Almost 30 million people have watched a video exposing the climate breakdown in three stunning minutes

A major United Nations report issued Monday reveals a much more serious look at climate change and global warming than expected, explaining that by 2040, only 12 years from now, we could see severe changes that could include more frequent droughts and flooding, extreme heat that could cause food shortages affecting millions and devastation of the ocean's coral reefs.

The impacts and costs are greater and coming faster than expected, according to a comprehensive new assessment by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that says we have about a dozen years to come to grips with the issue.

Jacinda Ardern says the panel of global scientists have spelled out the difference between taking the action needed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees celsius and it reaching 2 percent or higher.

"With clear benefits to people and natural ecosystems, limiting global warming to 1.5°C compared to 2°C could go hand-in-hand with ensuring a more sustainable and equitable society", the IPCC said on Monday.

PM's Appeal To Oil Producing Nations Gets A Negative From Saudi Minister
He appealed to the oil-producing countries to channel their surplus to pursue commercial exploitation in the oil sector in the developing countries.

Britain's Energy and Clean Growth Minister Claire Perry has asked the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) to examine whether the target should be reviewed and whether the country should set a date to meet net zero emissions.

The Paris Agreement in 2015, set the limit of global temperature at 2C but the now the world is not even close to reaching that target. Any additional emissions would require removing Carbon dioxide from the air.

"The report shows we only have the slimmest of opportunities remaining to avoid unthinkable damage to the climate system that supports life as we know it".
