Cristiano Ronaldo's lawyer has released a statement publicly affirming his client's innocence regarding a rape accusation dating back to 2009 and claiming that multiple reported documents implicating the superstar were altered and/or forged.

Christiansen confirmed that Mayorga reached a settlement with Ronaldo's representatives in 2010.

Larissa Drohobyczer, an attorney who is a part of Mayorga's legal team, recently issued a statement stating that Ronaldo has just under three weeks to respond formally to the accusation.

A lawsuit filed on 27 September in Nevada state court seeks to void the NDA that Ms Mayorga's lawyers say she signed while accepting $375,000 (£284,000) to keep quiet.

Ronaldo's new Las Vegas attorney, Peter S. Christiansen, talks to media in Las Vegas about a statement he released in response to rape allegations against the footballer.

He added: "So that there are no doubts: Cristiano Ronaldo vehemently denies all the accusations in this civil action, in consistency with what he has done in the last nine years".

The documents that allegedly contain statements by Cristiano Ronaldo and were reproduced in the media are pure inventions.

Christiansen said Ronaldo does not deny he agreed to enter into an agreement, but "the reasons that led him to do so are at least to be distorted".

"This agreement is by no means a confession of guilt".

Stocks Just Suffered Their Worst Loss in Months. Here's Why

'Mr Ronaldo was advised to privately resolve the allegation against him in order to avoid the inevitable attempts that are now being made to destroy a reputation that has been built upon hard work, athleticism and honour'.

Ronaldo's lawyer in Berlin, Christian Schertz, has refused comment about the rape allegation.

Las Vegas police have since reopened an investigation into the alleged assault, which Mayorga says took place in Ronaldo's hotel room in the city's Palms Casino resort.

Another woman claimed she was raped by Ronaldo after a party.

"It is my understanding that in 2015, dozens of entities [including law firms] across many different industries throughout Europe were hacked and their electronic data was stolen and captured by a cybercriminal", the statement adds. To absolve any doubt, Mr Ronaldo has always maintained, as he does today, that what occurred in 2009 in Las Vegas was consensual in nature.

The attorneys said she was "emotionally fragile", out of the country and would not be interviewed by media.

Ms Mayorga said she went to the Las Vegas Police Department later that day and was examined in hospital.

"This hacker tried to sell such information, and a media outlet irresponsibly ended up publishing some of the stolen documents, significant parts of which were altered and / or completely fabricated".

"It concludes by saying that: "[Ronaldo] is confident that the truth will survive this frenzy and the laws of Nevada will be upheld and enforced".
