Brooks Koepka named PGA of America's Player of the Year

Brooks Koepka holds the Wanamaker Trophy after he won the PGA Championship golf tournament at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. Koepka has won PGA Tour player of the year on the strength of his two major champ

With those victories, Koepka joined Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gene Sarazen and Ben Hogan as one of only five players to win both the US Open and PGA Championship in the same year.

After winning a pair of majors this past season, Brooks Koepka has been named the 2017-18 Player of the Year by the PGA Tour. "It's been a low and then an incredible high, so it's truly an honor".

Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson have done their best to downplay reports about them almost getting into a physical altercation at the Ryder Cup, and we would rather take their word for it than be treated to another horrifically uncomfortable video like they one they put out on Tuesday.

Koepka landed the coveted honour despite missing almost three months with a wrist injury as he would go on to become the first repeat U.S. Open victor in 29 years and then triumphed at the PGA Championship for his third career major title.

"On behalf of the PGA TOUR, our congratulations to Brooks Koepka on being voted PGA TOUR Player of the Year by his peers", said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. "They're like brothers. Brothers may argue, brothers get into it".

Coming off a wrist injury that sidelined him for four months, Koepka finished ninth in the FedEx Cup standings, a career best.

Koepka, who missed almost four months in early 2018 with a left wrist injury, also managed four other top-10 efforts in the season, including second-place finishes at the WGC HSBC Champions and at Colonial.
