Trump apologizes to Kavanaugh and declares him 'proven innocent'

U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh and family participate in his ceremonial public swearing-in in Washington

Across the street at the U.S. Capitol, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke on the Senate floor about Kavanaugh's rocky, partisan confirmation process that ended Saturday when he was sworn in at the Supreme Court.

Kavanaugh and his team are settling into the former chambers of Justice Samuel Alito, who moved to the offices vacated by retired Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Biskupic described the scene as Kavanaugh listened to arguments for the first time and the significance of hearing him addressed by his new title. Keeping score on this sort of thing may feel unseemly and irrelevant, but if a right-wing justice had amassed a similar record over a similar period of time, I suspect we'd hear a lot more about it - and not the context of a flurry of swooning films, either. And pundits presumed POTUS meant to take a victory lap after his nominee got the Senate's stamp of approval by a slim 50-48 margin following a very divisive confirmation battle, in which Kavanaugh faced multiple sexual misconduct allegations, but especially that he had sexually assaulted Ford when he was in high school.

President Donald Trump apologized on national TV to Brett Kavanaugh for the "pain and suffering" to which he was subjected during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing, declaring on national TV that Kavanaugh had been "found innocent".

Justice Brett Kavanaugh received a warm welcome from his new colleagues Tuesday as he made a low-key public debut at the Supreme Court, in a collegial scene that stood in sharp contrast to the chaos of his confirmation process. Kavanaugh took the two required oaths privately at the court on Saturday, letting him begin work right away. Kavanaugh asked for his first question.

That will set off more hysteria over Kavanaugh's confirmation, but it's meaningless.

"What was done last night in the White House was a political rather".

"He's going to be a great Supreme Court justice - watch", he said.

It's unclear exactly when Ajayi suffered the injury, or if it limited him against the Vikings. The team itself announced Monday afternoon that Ajayi has been placed on the injured reserve.

He could also be seen having a lighthearted exchange with liberal Justice Elena Kagan, seated next to him.

And on Monday evening he was the guest of honor at a ceremonial swearing-in at the White House.

"The American public has seen this charade, has seen this dishonesty by the Democrats and when you mention "impeach" a justice of the United States Supreme Court who was a top scholar, top student, top intellect and who did nothing wrong".

Arguments will resume Wednesday in separate cases, one involving the detention of undocumented immigrants.

Though he missed the court's first week, none of the six cases argued dealt with blockbuster issues. Kavanaugh won't vote in those cases, but if the court is split 4-4, it could decide to have those cases reargued so Kavanaugh can break the tie.

As they have before, the justices were not shy about asking whether Congress would change the Armed Career Criminal Act, in part to rescue them from their previous decisions. He'll also be the one to answer the door at those meetings if someone knocks to deliver something such as a justice's coffee or forgotten glasses.

Four unnamed sources told the Washington Post that the D.C. Circuit sent the complaints to Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr.
