Trump says he'll rid DoJ of 'lingering stench'

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein

Responding to a question about the explosive Times claims, Pompeo said this in the preview clip: "Chris, I'm not going to comment on that in any way, other than to say this: I've been pretty clear since my beginning of service here in this administration, if you can't be on the team, if you're not supporting this mission, then maybe you just ought to find something else to do".

Trump appeared to reference the report when telling the rally audience that he was going to rid the Department of Justice of a "stench". 21 that the 53-year-old considered wearing a wire when having conversations with Trump after he abruptly canned FBI Director James Comey.

McCabe's memos, which were later turned over to special counsel Robert Mueller's office, had remained at the Federal Bureau of Investigation until McCabe was ousted in January and McCabe doesn't know how any reporters could've obtained those memos, Bromwich said.

The discussion about possibly recording Trump occurred during a meeting with McCabe in May 2017 following Comey's firing.

Coming on the heels of an explosive book by respected White House chronicler Bob Woodward, the reports added to mounting evidence indicating that numerous people in Trump's own government have serious doubts about his fitness for office - and have actively worked to undermine him.

A memo from McCabe also describes Rosenstein as having discussed the potential removal of the president under the Constitution.

"Andy McCabe is under investigation for lying to the FBI".

Rosenstein's comments were first reported Friday by The New York Times. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any investigations into Russian interference and the Trump campaign in March 2017, leaving Rosenstein to oversee the matter. Any dismissal could affect Mueller's Russian Federation probe given that Rosenstein still oversees Mueller's work.

Trump has not explicitly said he's planning to fire Rosenstein, but implied as much during a campaign rally Friday night.

White House Slams Second Allegation of Sexual Misconduct by Kavanaugh
Kavanaugh has denied both accusations , as has The White House, which continues to support his Supreme Court nomination. Kavanaugh also has agreed to testify at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing planned for 10am (1400 GMT) on Thursday.

One of Donald Trump's top justice officials has denied discussing how to remove the United States president from power by declaring him unfit for office.

He chose Mueller for the job one week after he laid the groundwork for the firing of Comey by writing a memo that criticized Comey's handling of the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server. Trump has resisted calls from conservative commentators to fire both Sessions and Rosenstein and appoint someone who would ride herd more closely on Mueller or dismiss him.

It is emphasized that the proposals of Rosenstein were not implemented, but he called the information "inaccurate and factually untrue". That person's identity is unknown to journalists in the Times news department.

The inspector general's office has accepted Comey's account over McCabe's in concluding that McCabe repeatedly lied to internal investigators under oath. The Justice Department declined to comment on whether or when a possible indictment for McCabe might come down.

The Times reported that Rosenstein had discussed the 25th Amendment in the days after the president fired FBI Director James Comey.

The president made the remarks at an event on behalf of U.S. Senate candidate Josh Hawley, who is locked in a tight battle with Democratic Sen.

Rosenstein was rankled by the revelation that Comey had kept memos about his interactions with the president; McCabe wanted a more aggressive approach toward the White House, the person said.

"Generals Kelly, Mattis and numerous other White House and cabinet officials have been reported to say critical things of the president without being fired", Schumer noted.

A section of the 25th Amendment allows for the vice president plus a majority of the Cabinet members to declare that the president is unfit for office.

Not long after those reports, Trump said McCabe "never took notes" in meetings and suggested that his memos were "fake".
