Woman who helped kidnap Smart released

This appearance also comes on the day Barzee was released from prison despite pleas from Smart to keep her behind bars for several more years.

Barzee wasn't expected to be released for at least another five years. Her home will be subject to inspections as well, and she'll have to undergo some mental health treatment, the newspaper said.

Documents say a woman released from prison in Utah after serving 15 years for kidnaping Elizabeth Smart will live in emergency housing chosen by her probation officer.

Smart originally wanted officials to reconsider their decision on Barzee's release, but then said it appeared there was no viable, legal recourse she could take to stop it from happening. She pleaded guilty and mentally ill in state court to the 2002 attempted kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart's cousin and was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.

"The feeling that kind of radiated from her, it just was dark".

"I do believe she's still a danger ..."

They held Smart captive for nine months before they were captured and convicted. She said it was "a statement in my moving forward" that she was able to come to the college to speak about sexual violence.

As one of her kidnappers was about to be released from prison, Elizabeth Smart called for people to watch over friends and family members.

The reigning PFA player of the year scored in Liverpool FC's home victories over West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion. When told about Salah's start to this season compared to last, Klopp added: "Wow, that's a crisis.

Since Barzee's release was announced, Smart has voiced concern that her captor has not been rehabilitated and is still unsafe.

A lawyer for Barzee, Scott Williams, said in a statement that it was "unfair and counterproductive" to label Barzee as risky.

Aiding Mitchell in following his so-called "divine revelations" prompted Barzee to help him kidnap Elizabeth Smart and even sit next to her as Mitchell raped her, Ed Smart said. "I don't feel like she has taken any responsibility for her actions, so that's disappointing, but there's nothing we can do about it", he said. "And they have been very good, and I'm hoping that's the way it will work", he said.

The online registry shows Wanda Barzee's conviction on federal and state charges in the 2002 kidnapping of then 14-year-old Smart.

Smart has said that she's now at peace, and she doesn't regret what's happened. She will be under federal supervision for five years.

In July, the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole announced that Barzee would be held until January 29, 2024. Her attorney questioned whether the term included time Barzee had served in a federal prison.

The request to modify the conditions of Barzee's supervised release was signed by Meriska Holt.
