Tilray has crashed more than 50% since its wild day of trading

Shares of other marijuana-related stocks also rose, with Cronos Group Inc (CRON.O) up 24.827 percent.

Tilray Inc., the company who received the approval, already has global cannabis shipping experience.

Tilray, along with Aurora Cannabis, spiked Monday after BNN Bloomberg reported that Coca-Cola is in serious talks with Aurora to develop cannabis-infused beverages.

At present rate, Tilray is outperforming its rival Canopy Growth Corp. which was the first cannabis company to attain a $1 billion valuation.

Although legal in many states, marijuana is still illegal under federal law, which limits the number of USA companies that are able to provide certain types of strains for medical use.

"It's a really big milestone for Tilray and also just for the whole industry", said Catherine Jacobson, Tilray's director of clinical research. Messrs Kennedy and Blue are graduates of Yale School of Management's MBA program.

Canadian cannabis stock Tilray has, to put it mildly, been on a odd trip. The research was partially funded by Tilray as well as the International Essential Tremor Foundation. The shares nearly doubled Wednesday, then wiped out that gain within an hour only to surge almost 40 percent into the close.

Aurora's shares were up 4.7% at C$11.38 on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

Tilray cultivates, processes and distributes cannabis extracts and dried flower products to patients, doctors and medical researchers around the world, including Britain.

Tilray has agreements to sell pot in Canadian pharmacies including Shoppers Drug Mart and is investing in production capacity in Portugal so it can supply the European Union from within Europe, Kennedy said in an interview. That includes a big gain earlier this week, when the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research at the University of California San Diego said the Food and Drug Administration will allow it to import capsules containing two key cannabis compounds from Tilray so the centre can study their effectiveness in treating tremors. Tilray had just $20 million in revenue previous year, but with a market valuation of about $16 billion, it's now more valuable than Tiffany. The market has since been calling for Tilray to release more shares into the public. Commenting on Tilray stock's wild ride on Wednesday, Canaccord Genuity analyst Matt Bottomley said, "I think they're perceived as having a very strong management team and it's one of only three Canadian (pot) stocks that have a USA listing, I think it's the sentiment and excitement and a bit of scarcity of stocks in the U.S". About a third of Tilray's float is sold short, according to financial analytics firm S3 Partners.

"The small investors always end up with the short end of the stick", he said.
