Firefox Reality VR and AR web browser goes live

Mozilla has finally launched Firefox Reality web browser

Firefox Reality is introduced by Mozilla.

Earlier this year, Mozilla, the developers behind popular web browser Firefox announced that it was working on a new version of Firefox that was designed specifically for use in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headsets.

Talking about the new Firefox Reality, the browser comes with many features that allow for a seamless browsing experience, also while viewing VR content. From the humble Google Cardboard to Oculus Rift, numerous VR headsets were launched to showcase the promising applications and exciting feature of Virtual Reality. The video below provides an introduction to the new browser: According to TechCrunch Mozilla is ahead of the game with the new offering, stating that the web "is a pretty natural fit for VR". The software is already available in the app stores of Oculus, Viveport, and Daydream.

When you first open up Firefox Reality, you'll find a curated feed of the type of immersive sights and sounds that stretch the tech's muscles.

Last April, Mozilla announced that it was working on this browser and emphasized that it was an open source project whose goal was for other vendors to integrate it into their platforms.

One Year Out From Hurricane Maria, Full Recovery Still Elusive
Antonio Torres, one of the organizers of the vigil, said fewer people would've died if the US government had a better response. More than 200,000 people left the island after the storm, mostly to the US mainland, according to government data.

"We had to rethink everything, including navigation, text-input, environments, search and more", Vrignaud said in a statement. We have an always-growing list of ideas and features that we are working to add to make this the best browser for mixed reality.

It makes sure that users have the possibility to browse the Internet through voice commands that are interpreted by the VR glasses and thus try to lessen the input of text when searching for content on the web.

The new browser is based on the same Quantum engine that powers their Firefox Quantum desktop browser. Concerning privacy, the company has added an anonymous tab just like in the original version. In the coming months, Vringaud said, Reality will receive support for bookmarks, 360-degree video playback, multiple accounts and more.

Mozilla obviously has a long way to go with Firefox Reality and this evident from the fact that it is just version 1.0. changes are bound to come and we might be years away from having that ideal VR browser.
