Trump on Sessions: 'I don't have an attorney general'

President Trump complains that he has 'no Attorney General' in latest attack on Jeff Sessions

President Trump escalated his attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday, offering a scathing assessment of his performance on the job and in his confirmation hearing.

"Based on my experience meeting with officers like you across the country, I believe that morale has already improved under President Trump", Sessions said, according to his prepared remarks.

In the interview, Trump suggested he appointed Sessions out of blind loyalty.

The president softened his stance slightly when talking to reporters on the White House lawn hours after the interview's publication, saying, "I'm disappointed in the attorney general for numerous reasons, but we have an attorney general".

In an interview with Hill TV, posted late Tuesday, the president said he is unhappy with the current state of affairs on the US border and "other things", without elaborating.

Trump, in a Hill.TV interview released on Wednesday, said that he's "so sad over Jeff Sessions", whom he has repeatedly denounced for recusing himself from the Russian Federation investigation.

Sessions also incurred Trump's wrath recently over the indictments of two GOP lawmakers, California Rep. Duncan Hunter and New York Rep. Chris Collins.

She said the North had obtained more than 800,000 barrels of refined petroleum products in the first 8 months of the year. The United States is accusing Russian Federation of "cheating" and undermining U.N. sanctions against North Korea.

Ironically, Trump is right in claiming that Sessions is a bad attorney general, through firing him because of his recusal would be the wrong move. In addition, rapes more than tripled and auto theft and aggravated assault went up by a third, according to the attorney general. "I mean, he was mixed up and confused, and people that worked with him for, you know, a long time in the Senate were not nice to him, but he was giving very confusing answers", he continued.

The interview was conducted by Hill.TV's John Solomon and Buck Sexton.

"It turned out he didn't have to recuse himself".

His exasperation with the AG also spilled over in one private conversation, Bob Woodward wrote in his new tell-all, "Fear", with Trump telling former staff secretary Rob Porter: "This guy is mentally retarded".

As speculation continues to swirl on whether Trump will fire Sessions, the president declined to provide a straightforward answer. "We'll see what happens", the president told The Hill.

"I'm so sad over Jeff Sessions because he came to me".

Trump just apparently doesn't want to be seen pulling the trigger. "Very disappointed", he concluded.
