Boxing fans react to Tyson Fury & Deontay Wilder's ring exchange in Belfast

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder CONFIRMED Fight to take place in Las Vegas

The fight, which was confirmed immediately after Fury's points decision win over Francesco Pianeta in Belfast, will see the two unbeaten men contest the only major heavyweight title not now held by Anthony Joshua.

Fury saw off Francesco Pianeta on points at Windsor Park and when Deontay Wilder took to the ring afterwards, the pair exchanged words.

Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, standing near the two fighters in the ring, said an announcement will be made next week.

It was in the sixth when Fury swung and missed with a wild right hook, a shot he perhaps threw in the knowledge he could take such a risk.

“They called, I answered. I said: "Send me the contract.' They sent the contract".

Wilder, the WBC heavyweight champion, owns a 40-0 record with 39 knockouts after a TKO victory over Luis Ortiz in his most recent fight March 3.

Wilder fired back: "You can run around like you're a preacher but I promise you, when you do step in this ring I will baptise you!"

The fight serves as a tantalizing consolation prize for boxing fans upset that the very public negotiations between Wilder and current unified champion Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs) - who holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts - fell apart for 2018 after multiple teases.

As for Tyson Fury, his comeback was a simple one: "Listen, you can't knock out what you can't hit". "If he thinks about having this belt he had better wake up and apologize". "I am going to knock you out".

Speaking post-fight, Fury explained that he "needed the rounds" to get back to the desirable level he wishes to fight at.

"This is what we've been waiting for - the best fighting the best".

It certainly seems like Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are on a heavyweight collision course. As the rounds progressed, Fury cranked up the pressure and began sitting down on his punches.

For his part, Pianeta wouldn't go away easily and beckoned Fury to come forward despite landing nothing of significance. "I was working on my boxing to slip and slide and use the jab. This man [Pianeta] couldn't land a blow on me tonight".
