Starbucks Canada Introduces 2 New Plant-Based Protein Blended Cold Brew Beverages

Starbucks Canada Introduces 2 New Plant-Based Protein Blended Cold Brew Beverages

The new Protein Blended Cold Brews contain 9-12 grams of plant-based protein and the drinks are sweetened with what the company calls a "Banana Date Fruit Blend", a clear attempt to reduce its added sugar content. The beverages are a blend of Starbucks cold brew and plant-based proteins, Banana Date Fruit Blend, and ice. It's gritty, as one might expect from a drink with ground almonds in it, but overall it's rich in almond flavor and the closest all-vegan Frappuccino replacement Starbucks fans can get their hands on. The drink is made with cold brew coffee, alternative milk options, and plant-based proteins. We can certainly hope so, as Starbucks said in the announcement of this new product that the launch was "inspired by our customers' love for Starbucks Cold Brew and a growing interest in plant-based proteins". A grande packs 10 grams of protein. The almond brew will have distinct flavors of almond milk and almond butter, and the cacao drink will have coconut milk and cacao powder in it.

The Cacao Protein Blended Cold Brew melted and thinned out a little too quickly (before I got back to my desk!) to maintain it's smoothie-like texture.

Cold brew joined the Starbucks menu in 2015 and Starbucks.

Instead of Banana Date Fruit Blend try swapping it with a whole banana.

Starbucks Almond Protein Blended Cold Brew. If none of the above take your fancy then customize the drink the way you want to. You can also ask for more almond butter or cacao powder in order to adjust the taste, or if you are really looking for a wow factor, mix the two together.

Starbucks' new additions are part of a growing trend among American consumers who recognize we can not survive our work mornings on sugar and willpower alone.
