Donald Trump: ‘I’ve Never Respected’ John Brennan

John Brennan

"I know that I've gotten tremendous response from having done that because security clearances are very important to me - very, very important", Trump said in a brief session with reporters on the White House lawn. There has been speculation, according to the Washington Examiner, that Trump could try removing Bob Mueller's security clearance, as a tactic to end the investigation.

"They should have given him back a long time ago, and Turkey has in my opinion acted very, very badly", Trump told reporters at the White House.

In a striking rebuke, more than a dozen former top USA intelligence officials released a sharply-worded letter late Thursday describing Trump's decision earlier this week to revoke the clearance of former CIA director John Brennan as a blatant attempt to "stifle free speech" and send an "inappropriate and deeply regrettable" signal to other public servants. Trump says he is reviewing security clearances for nine other individuals, including the eight pictured. "I've never respected him; I've never had a lot of respect", Trump said.

Russian Federation denies having meddled in the 2016 election, but US intelligence agencies uniformly say Moscow did intervene and tried to help Trump beat Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

I think Bruce Ohr is a disgrace.

And, while many intelligence officials-like former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok, and Department of Justice attorney Bruce Ohr-have all had some of their Trump-Russia communications exposed, thus far, Brennan has been spared.

The only question remaining is whether the collusion amounts to a "constituted criminally liable conspiracy", Brennan wrote.

Dozens of worldwide flights were cancelled or either returned or were diverted elsewhere in the region, officials said. He cited an initial report that the plane appeared to have "bounced" during the landing then its lights went out.

He also said that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was conflicted but said he was willing to allow the investigation to continue.

Trump said he is reviewing security clearances for these eight: top row from left, former Central Intelligence Agency director Michael Hayden, former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, former acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director Andrew McCabe and former national security adviser Susan Rice.

Panelists also discuss the president's battle with former White House aide Omaroa Manigault Newman over claims in her new tell-all book.

Brennan said earlier this week he would "not relent" despite the removal of his clearance.

In another development, the former U.S. Navy admiral who led the operation to kill terrorist leader Osama bin Laden is challenging Trump to revoke his security clearance.

"I don't think it advances the criminal obstruction case, but I think it's factually relevant", said Mark Zaid, a national security attorney.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump admitted his decision on Brennan's clearance was linked to the ongoing federal probe into possible collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation to influence the 2016 election.
