At least, it'll be a valuable tool for the business world once Google launches the feature for G Suite, which hasn't happened yet. Also, recipients of the confidential message will have numerous options that might compromise it disabled, so they won't be able to forward, copy, print, or download the message.

The new confidential mode gives users the ability to place restrictions on emails as part of an effort to keep them from getting into the hands of people who should not have them. After selecting that, Gmail asks you to choose an expiration time and whether or not a passcode is required to open the message. However, users should still keep in mind that Gmail can not stop the users from screenshotting the mail.

Once this feature is live for you, you will find it by clicking on the 3-dot settings button in the top right corner of the Compose UI. If already turned on, click Edit. It's then you'll be asked to set things like expiration dates and SMS passcodes.

Confidential Mode gives you tight control over the emails you send.
