Bernie Sanders Won His Vermont Primary

Christine Hallquist became the first transgender candidate for a national party when she won the nomination for the Democratic primary in Vermont's gubernatorial race. Tony Evers, the elected state superintendent of education, has led in most polls.

"Vermonters are going to elect me on the platform".

"I am not apologetic for who I am", Hallquist said in an interview with Politico. The anti-Trump organization "Woman's March" said that it was a victory for women as well. In 1998, well before she transitioned from male to female, she went to work for the Vermont Electric Co-operative, becoming CEO in 2005.

While many transgender people eschew their name given at birth that they change upon transition, Hallquist has made David her middle name and comfortably speaks about her previous identity.

Phil Scott is facing a challenge from Springfield businessman Keith Stern.

Manchester City and Liverpool put down markers with impressive wins
The opening weekend of Premier League season 2018/19 concluded on Sunday with three games, and they certainly did not disappoint. French full-back Benjamin Mendy strode forward and cut the ball back to Bernardo Silva who made no mistake with his finish.

Hallquist defeated environmental activist James Ehlers, dance festival organizer Brenda Siegel, and 14-year-old Ethan Sonneborn - who got on the ticket because a loophole in the state law doesn't require candidates to be of voting age.

If Hallquist defeats the incumbent Scott in November, she will become the first transgender governor in USA history.

LGBTQ advocates hailed the nomination as a victory for their progressive political agenda. It was the first state to allow civil unions for same-sex couples in 2000 and in 2009 became the first state to legalize gay marriage through the state legislature.
