Bairstow and Woakes put England on top against India in second Test

James Anderson now has 350 Test wickets at home- joint-second tally with Anil Kumble

England swing king James Anderson became the first to claim 100 Test wickets at Lord's Cricket Ground on Sunday as his team played a second innings against India on the fourth day of the second Test.

Anderson brought up his century with the wicket of Murali Vijay, who bagged a pair, before also dismissing KL Rahul (10). Speaking of, forecast of rain could be India's saving grace.

England lead the five-match series 1-0 following their victory in the opener at Edgbaston. BOWLED! Anderson sends down a full length delivery that was swinging away and Kuldeep goes for the shot but only manages to get an inside edge on it which sends the ball back onto the stumps. Broad's 421st Test wicket took him up to joint-10th among the all-time leading bowlers, alongside South Africans Dale Steyn and Shaun Pollock - and he soon passed them with the wicket of Kohli.

Anderson was now just 12 shy of the 563 Test wickets taken by Glenn McGrath.

And in his 25th match at this level, Woakes surpassed his previous Test best of 66, made against Sri Lanka at Lord´s two years ago, before completing a 129-ball hundred, including 15 fours, with a pulled three off Hardik Pandya. On the Day 2, English bowlers used the conditions perfectly and restricted India for just 107 runs in the first innings.

LONDON: Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes scored the first fifties of the match as England recovered to build a significant first-innings lead in the second Test against India at Lord's on Saturday after yet another top-order collapse.

Their unbroken sixth-wicket stand was so far worth 99 runs and all the more valuable for the fact that England had slumped to 89 for four on the stroke of lunch.
