You can finally buy the Magic Leap One mixed reality headset

Magic Leap One

Magic Leap unleashes its Magic Leap One augmented reality headset with its Creator Edition - but is this the start of something massive or a false flag?

The Magic Leap One is a three-part device that consists of a headset, the Lightwear, a wearable computer, the Lightpack, and a handheld controller.

You can also add an optional $495 "professional development package" that'll let you replace the headset within 24 hours if needed. Analysts have quickly put these things together to conclude that either the company will announce details of the launch today, or the Magic Leap One Creator's Edition will actually launch today.

Initially, Magic Leap is offering complimentary delivery of the Magic Leap One Creator Edition. For starters, they're only available in certain geographic areas, and when you do buy one, you'll have to make sure you're home when it's delivered, because all units come with expert installation. People outside of those 6 cities can pre-order their device now, and Magic Leap says it will eventually ship to additional locations, though the exact timeframe for the wider rollout wasn't specified.

The big draw for business users and creatives alike is the level of immersion that Magic Leap claims is available with the system.

The Magic Kit is where creatives and developers can find the tools they need to creative experiences within Magic Leap. The company has raised more than $2.3 billion since being founded in 2011 and after its last round received a valuation of more than $6 billion. Magic Leap One is based on a whole new OS called LuminOS.
